La emisión de CH4 estuvo determinada por las características de la dieta y el nivel de consumo de los animales y se mostró claramente la asociación entre calidad
de la pastura y emisión de CH4 por unidad de MS o de energía bruta ingerida, resaltando la mayor emisión del campo natural degradado. Los resultados obtenidos son primarios, y por lo tanto se requiere ampliar la investigación en esta línea para logar factores de emisión de CH4 nacionales para todas las categorías animales utilizadas en los distintos sistemas de producción de carne. Todas aquellas estrategias de manejo de campo natural que logren incrementos en la digestibilidad promedio y disminución en los valores promedio de FDN de nuestras pasturas nativas, estarán contribuyendo significativamente a la intensificación sostenible de
la producción de carne a través de la mitigación de la intensidad de las emisiones de CH4 , ya sea por kg de MS ingerida o por unidad de carne o peso vivo producido. |

Eucalyptus globulus Labill. is of great interest to the pulp industry. However, the species is highly susceptible to leaf spot caused by Teratosphaeria nubilosa and has a low rooting capacity. In order to overcome these limitations, INIA has been implementing a genetic improvement program for this species and the generation of interspecific hybrids. The strategy is based on the selection of E. globulus clones with high precocity or foliage turnover, since the adult foliage is more tolerant to T. nubilosa. In addition, controlled crosses of E. globulus and E. maidenii with E. grandis are carried out to incorporate disease resistance and ease of rooting. |
